WAEC Issues Warning on Fake 2024 WASSCE Job Advertisements

Have you come across the recent WAEC job advert for supervisors and invigilators? Wondering if it's legitimate or just another online scam? How can you differentiate between genuine opportunities and fraudulent schemes? Get the facts about the fake job advertisements linked to the 2024 WASSCE and learn how to protect yourself from these misleading offers.

WAEC Recruitment Scam

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has recently alerted the public to fraudulent activities involving a counterfeit online portal that claims to offer job opportunities on behalf of the Council. This deceitful website advertises positions for ad hoc staff, such as supervisors and invigilators, for the forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates in 2024.

WAEC has confirmed that this advertisement did not originate from the Council and strongly condemns the actions of those behind these deceptive job offers. The statement from WAEC clarifies, “The Council would like to state categorically that the advert did not emanate from us and thereby disassociates itself from the fake job advert being circulated by unscrupulous individuals whose schemes are to defraud unsuspecting job-seekers.

The selection of supervisors for the WASSCE is managed by various Ministries of Education, while schools themselves appoint the invigilators for these exams. WAEC stressed that it never requests monetary compensation from job applicants in exchange for employment opportunities, emphasizing its commitment to ethical practices.

Essential Advisory:

Any interaction with this fraudulent website or similar platforms, other than through WAEC’s official website www.waecnigeria.org, is at the individual’s own risk. WAEC has made it clear that it is not engaged in any recruitment activities currently and that all legitimate job openings are advertised through reputable channels, including daily newspapers, WAEC Nigeria’s official website, and official social media platforms.

The Council has issued a strong warning against these deceptive practices and urges those involved in such schemes to cease their activities immediately. WAEC’s commitment to transparency was reiterated in a disclaimer issued by the Public Affairs Department and signed by Moyosola F. Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs, on behalf of the Head of National Office.

We express gratitude to our esteemed stakeholders for continuously placing trust in us. The Council remains steadfast in its dedication to rendering unparalleled and transparent services to the Nigerian child,” the statement concluded.

This alert serves as a crucial reminder to verify the authenticity of any job advertisement and to rely only on official sources for employment opportunities related to WAEC or any other esteemed institution.
